Those early newborn days move quickly, and the Stevens' Nashville in home newborn session was about slowing things down and capturing this season in a way that felt like them.
We spent a quiet morning in their home, documenting everyday moments as they happened. Having photographed their maternity session just a few weeks earlier made this time feel especially meaningful. Being invited back to capture both seasons allows the story to feel complete and connected. Mom, dad, and big sister were so excited to welcome their newest addition in a relaxed and comfortable space.
We let moments happen rather than directing every detail. Big sister stayed close, settling into her new role with ease; she even took on the role of creative director and wardrobe! I don't know about you, but I think the pink bow she gave her mom was perfect. These everyday interactions, ear to ear smiles, and natural connection are what often end up meaning the most over time.

Stevens' Cozy Nashville Newborn Session
Newborn

Most of the session took place in the living room using natural light, which is ideal for lifestyle newborn photography. I also set up a simple studio corner for a few classic newborn portraits. This approach allows families to have both natural, in the moment images and timeless newborn photos during an in home newborn session.
My approach is intentionally unhurried and low stress. There is time for feeding, soothing, and breaks, so families never feel rushed. When everyone feels comfortable, genuine connection comes through naturally.

By the end of the session, it felt like stepping into a small piece of their everyday life. These images become reminders of what this season looked like and felt like in the earliest days at home.
In home newborn sessions are about documenting real moments in a familiar space. They preserve connection, detail, and the beginning of life together as a growing family.
Congratulations, Stevens family!
