Early summer in Tennessee means two things: beautiful light and a little humidity that reminds you exactly where you are. Thankfully, this afternoon with the Butera family at Old Hickory Lake in Hendersonville, TN had more of the first and just enough of the second to feel like summer.
We started along the dock, letting Olivia take the lead. At two and a half, she moved through the space with easy curiosity while Mom and Dad followed close behind. Beau, still in his baby season, was content soaking it all in from their arms.
From there, we wandered into a wide open field nearby, where the light felt bright and airy and everything slowed down naturally. Olivia explored, Beau stayed cozy, and the session unfolded without any pressure to pose or perform.
We ended on a white blanket in the grass, full of giggles, quiet moments, and simple connection. These early summer family sessions are always a favorite (even with the humidity). They're relaxed, honest, and rooted in how this season actually feels.
Old Hickory Lake is such a timeless spot for family photos in Hendersonville and throughout the Nashville area, including Gallatin, Mount Juliet, Franklin, and Brentwood. Easy, peaceful, and always a little bit magic.
